Kapsi: Bringing Water Relief

Finally, water…! Due to the initiatives of these volunteers, Kapsi village can now withstand two years of no rainfall, has doubled its agricultural yields and is 90 % alcohol-free. Life has changed completely for Dadasaheb Khatar, a farmer who lives in Kapsi village on the dusty two-lane Phalton-Satara highway. His days of waiting are over. He no longer looks out for the tankers from Phalton that used to bring them 12,000 litres of water every two days for his cows, his family and his fields. He now gets water from one of the many check dams built in his village by volunteers of Vyakti Vikas Kendra India (VVKI), worldwide known as Art of Living Foun ... (more)


Mumbai: Flood Relief 2005

Flood Relief - Vakola, Jogeshwari On August 2005 Vakola was coping with the destruction caused by the Mumbai floods. The Art of Living began flood relief initiatives which included medical camps and trauma-relief workshops. In August, two such programs were held which saw the participation of 65 people which greatly relieved the flood-related psychosis that had developed. A week-long cleanliness drive ensured that the dirt accumulated by the floods was cleaned. Later the Kalina slums were visited by Poojya Sri Sri Ravi Shankarji. Vidarbha: Coming back to life

Vidarbha: Coming back to life There have been no farmer suicides in 151 villages of Vidarbha ever since August 2006 when youth leaders from The Art of Living started Project Vidarbha – Swavalamban Programme. Says project coordinator, Jayant Bhole, “There has not been a single instance of suicide in the 151 villages we have worked so far. There are about 1,000 villages in the Amravati region of Vidarbha. The current suicides are happening in the other villages we have yet to reach. We are training more youth leaders to reach out to all the villages.” Till date, the youth leaders trained by The Art of Living have reached out to 151 villages of Amravati region of Vidarbha. Thousands thronged to the Japanese Garden in Rohini, Delhi, for the Art of Living (AOL) Musical Evening on March 27,2008. The first-of-its-kind AOL cultural event in Delhi, 200 perfectly orchestrated musicians enthralled and entranced the crowds with their exquisitely crafted symphonies. Conference On Peace & Reconciliation In South Asia Underlines Spirituality & Peace As Way Forward

Bringing together top leaders, senior diplomats and experts from diverse backgrounds, a historic Conference on Peace and Reconciliation in South Asia concluded in Oslo, the "peace capital" of the world, on April 12, 2008, calling for the peaceful resolution of unsettled issues and highlighting "spirituality" as a way forward. The two day Conference, which focused on the internal armed conflicts in the South Asian nations of India, Sri Lanka, Myanmar and Nepal, was organised by 'The Art of Living' and discussed possible solutions and ways and means to achieve peace and harmony. Grishma Mahotsav

Grishma Mahotsav It was the 1st mega event of the newly started youth club of The Art of Living called YES! Club World . In "Grishma Mahotsav" courses were organized by organizing an event. It was 3 month long project which was executed in 4 phases. 1st phase was (Approaching schools): In 15 effective days 50 schools around Dadar, Thane, New Mumbai, Borivali & Vasai was approached by a team of 35 volunteers & Teachers. 2nd phase (Art excel & YES!
