| Drug De-Addiction Camp in Ludhiana
The increase in substance abuse & drug addiction is a major stumbling block in the development of any place or community. It is affecting the youth in particular. Keeping this in view, The Art of Living, in collaboration with the Gurudwara Karamsar Rara Sahib Trust, organized a De-Addiction camp at Sant Isher Singh Memorial Hospital, Karamsar, Rara Sahib, Ludhiana, Punjab, from February 15, 2009 to February 26, 2009. The programme involved both pharmacological & psycho spiritual work, with The Art of Living concentrating on the psycho spiritual aspect. Pharmacological support was provided by the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, which has earlier conducted extensive research on the positive effects of Sudarshan Kriya.
Awareness activities were undertaken beforehand, in order to make the local people aware about the upcoming initiative. The De-Addiction camp was a huge success, with hundreds of patients suffering from drug addiction participating. A marked difference could be seen in the patients before & after the programme. People who had lost hope completely & had also lost faith in society & themselves, suddenly found a renewed enthusiasm for life. |
